"Tripper" (tripe46)

I have had great luck with auto trader. I sold an E55 in two weeks and a supercharged BRZ in 5 days! I even got a drive in a GT-R out of the BRZ sale.
So when one of the partners at my firm asked me to help slang his 2010 Nissan Altima, regretfully I said “no problem!” I thought it would be a breeze because hes asking far less than most comps on auto trader. It’s a black Altima (base) with 48,000 miles. He’s asking 8k. The car has never been in an accident etc...
I figured if I could sell a BRZ with less than 10k on the clock, and more than 12k in mods, that I could sell any car. However, selling a beigemobile is proving much more difficult.
It’s been on auto trader for two weeks with no hits. Pics are bad and he didn’t spring for the premier listing, but the only interest I have had was from a facebook “yardsale” group and that fell through.
Any oppos have any advice on this? Companies that will just buy your car (wholesalers)?

Have you thought about Vroom or Shift? These might be an option.

Based on another opponauts experience, it is not a bad choice, especially if you are not in a hurry.

Yea, were headed to carmax. Craigslist is out because I’m doing most of the footwork on the sale, and I don’t want to have to deal with those creatures.

Having helped people sell a bunch of regular cars, I can almost guarantee you that it’s down to the crappy pics and the low price.
Bad pics either make the ad look like a scam, or the owner look careless (which rubs off on how the car was presumeably treated). The low price relative to the benefits of the car implies there’s something wrong that isn’t being disclosed.
Price implies quality in people’s minds – combine that with careless pics, and people don’t wanna touch the car with a ten foot pole!
My suggestion: take good pics of the car yourself and put those in the ad in place of whatever’s already there, and raise the price to reflect the true condition of the car!
Also, don’t bother with the premier listing – people savvy enough to look for gems will look as hard as it takes to find them.

I made the mistake of buying a regular car once.
I had this problem. Took two months to sell a really nice Buick Enclave priced competitively.
Now I never buy anything but special editions (used, so we’re not braking the bank). M, AMG, V, - way easier to sell with those letters part of the model name.
But with the Buick I learned that lots of pictures and lots of detail help - areas your friend could help you fix if he could be bothered.

Check around at some dealers. There are a handful by me that buy cars. And you don’t have to buy or lease anything from them.
There was a Dodge dealer here that did it and honestly they offered me one of the highest amounts for my C30 compared to dealers where I WAS going to trade my car in.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles
